Our client is one of the world's leading pension funds, currently building a new trading platform and consolidating a complex landscape of order management systems. For this purpose, they’re partnering with Strategio to build a high-performing, AI-first consulting team/pod that will support the large-scale transformation initiative. 

The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and involves direct interaction with senior stakeholders across technology, trading, and investment operations functions. 

As the Lead Domain Analyst, you will be the most senior analyst within the pod, setting the standard for requirements quality, stakeholder engagement, and delivery across the program. You will engage directly with portfolio managers, traders, operations leads, product owners, and engineering teams and will be expected to bring structure and clarity to a large, complex, multi-workstream environment.

This is a full-time permanent role within the Strategio Financial Services Practice in Toronto, hybrid 4 days onsite and 1 day remote, on a long-term consulting deployment with our client.

What You'll Do

• Lead the pod's delivery, setting the bar for how the team works, communicates, and produces requirements
• Convert complex trading, portfolio management, and middle office workflows into build-ready requirements, workflow maps, acceptance criteria, test cases, and validation artifacts
• Engage directly with portfolio managers, traders, operations teams, product owners, and engineering leads to validate business logic, edge cases, controls, and adoption readiness
• Identify workflow variants, exception paths, dependencies, and operational risks across the full trade lifecycle
• Use AI tools to accelerate requirements analysis, workflow modeling, documentation, and gap analysis
• Ensure what is built works in practice, not just on paper

Communication:

•  Confident and credible on a trading floor, able to hold your ground and earn trust quickly with senior stakeholders
• Clear written and verbal communicator who can translate complexity for both business and tech audiences

Analytical

• Strong Business Analyst fundamentals: requirements gathering, process mapping, gap analysis, and UAT
• Comfortable directing the work of other analysts: able to quality-check output, identify gaps, and raise the standard of the team around you
• Thrives in ambiguity: able to define structure where none exists and bring clarity to a program that spans front office, middle office, and data domains simultaneously
• Naturally asks: what could break, how would we know, what is the control, what is the exception path, what is the audit trail

Financial Markets

• Deep understanding of public markets across equities, fixed income, derivatives (listed and OTC), and/or FX
• Strong working knowledge of the full trade lifecycle: order creation, execution, allocation, booking, confirmation, clearing, settlement, position keeping, and exception management
• Sufficient range to engage credibly across front office, middle office, and data domains; you do not need to be the deepest specialist in each, but you need to hold your own across all of them
• Familiarity with IBOR and ABOR concepts, downstream reporting, and operational controls
• Exposure to execution venues, regulatory reporting, or prime brokerage is a plus

AI Fluency

•  Use of AI tools daily as part of normal workflow
• Has built or materially improved something using AI: a script, prototype, workflow automation, requirements accelerator, testing tool, analysis model, or documentation workflow
• Knows how to test AI-generated outputs, identify errors, and apply appropriate human review
• Understand confidentiality, data sensitivity, hallucination risk, auditability, and the need for human-in-the-loop validation
• Enough market depth to know when AI is wrong, incomplete, or making dangerous assumptions
• Think in terms of what AI can help build, test, validate, and accelerate, not just what it can answer
