Our History
Having started life in East Ham in East London, UK, I grew up understanding that opportunities aren’t given, they have to be earned. East Ham at the time was in the borough of London with the lowest quality of life in all of the UK. My parents come from Black Caribbean and White Irish immigrant backgrounds. They made it clear that no matter where you come from, you can be anyone you choose in this life by working hard, building great relationships and of course, having a few strikes of luck. I took that message and turned it into a fast-paced career spanning from London to New York, Miami and Latin America.
At 29 years old during the peak of the pandemic, I could see a problem ongoing in most large enterprise companies. Everyone needed technology talent, but very few companies had a true workforce development pipeline. In 2020-2021, the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) recorded that nearly 800,000 people graduated from STEM degrees in the US. A huge pipeline of available talent, but a huge portion of these people remained unemployed. I made it my mission to bridge the gap between those that need work and the enterprise organizations who need talent.
Before starting Strategio, it became clear to me that I wanted to put my time and energy into something positive. I wanted to change the lives of thousands of technologists by creating opportunities that they might have never had. At the same time, I wanted to advance the productivity and success of enterprise organizations by providing them with a reliable and scalable pipeline of high-quality tech talent. Earlier in my career I would regularly talk with friends in the industry about the lack of talent for key roles such as Cloud, DevOps, SRE, Data Science and Cybersecurity. We would sit and discuss how we could hire more people from schools, but there was always a gap in knowledge between what universities were teaching and the skills required for the available jobs.
Finally I can say that we have the entire pipeline figured out. From sourcing high-quality and diverse tech talent, removing their barrier to entry through paid and expert-led training, to delivering the talent into long-term career opportunities with amazing customers.
I’ve been fortunate to work in London, New York, Miami and Latin America. I’ve worked with some of the highest performing companies in the world and placed some truly awesome people into their dream jobs across all of Europe, the Middle East and North America. Off the back of this experience and network, we were able to secure multimillion dollar funding to get Strategio off the ground. From there, we’ve built one of the fastest growing early career companies globally and we are just getting started.
